He is among eight young professionals and personalities appointed for the first time for this year's Malay Language Month, which starts on June 26.
Their job is to promote and inspire Malay Singaporeans to show a greater interest in the language.
Meanwhile, 180 students have also been recruited as ambassadors to encourage their friends to use the language outside the classroom.

‘Seribu Tahun’ Taufik and Imran
Excerpts from Berita Minggu…
When Taufik announced that he was going to sing his self-composed song Seribu Tahun at Simfoni Filem Nusantara Concert last Sunday at the Esplanade Concert Hall, there was some audience whispering… “ishhh, isn’t that Imran Ajmain’s song?”
Even then, the audience was seen amazed with Taufik’s performance which was clearly heartfelt with strong vocals and accompanied by the Singapore Malay Orchestra (OMS) which rocked the souls. Taufik’s performance was indeed mesmerized.
Not only the audience but also a group of Malaysian artistes who incidentally came to watch the show were shocked and asked same question while chatting up with the Medias outside the Hall. Even the journalist received email questioning the truth.
“After completing Hady Mirza’s album, I would work on my English album.” Said Taufik who is expected to be involved in a musical produced by Dick Lee early next year.

Kak Nam was told that Taufik Batisah will participate in a Musical Theatre show by Singapore Repertory Theatre. The Musical, Fried Rice Paradise written by Dick Lee will take place next year at the Esplanade.
Also participating in the stage show is Rahimah Rahim and Lim Yu Beng. The news is, Kak Girl would act as the mother to Taufik while they are still looking for the actor to act as the father.
The workshop sessions has started while the intensive training will start pretty soon. Kak Nam expects that these two artistes would be remarkable when they collaborate soon.
For those who want to watch Taufik and Rahimah sing, dance and act live, don’t forget to book your tickets much earlier. It would definitely Boomz!

Malay Music Award moves to Jakarta
Singapore artistes will no longer have their own “Best Of” category in the regional Malay music award ceremony Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM).
Three Singapore-centric awards – Best Song (Singapore), Best Singapore Act and Best Album – which are decided by a panel of industry experts, have been dropped from the annual celebration of Malay music from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Ms Zakiah Halim, Vice-president of Malay, Indian and community programming with MediaCorp Radio which organises the nine-year-old event, says the omission will make the awards a truly regional industry event.

Taufik @ S'pore Day 2009 in London
S'pore Day to draw 12,000
THIS year's Singapore Day will be celebrated on a bigger scale despite the economic downturn.
In fact, the one-day event to be held on April 25 at Hampton Court Palace, southwest of Central London, will cost more than double that of last year's in Melbourne.
'We asked ourselves whether we should continue with organising this event given the economic downturn. We went through the analyses, assessment, videos and feedback of overseas Singaporeans and we felt the firm response is yes we need to go ahead,' said Ms Quah Ley Hoon, Director, Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU), at a media briefing on Wednesday.
