Biography:
Muhammad Taufik bin Batisah, (born December 10, 1981) is the winner of the first season of Singapore Idol. He is of mixed Bugis and Indian descent, and attended Boon Lay Primary School, Jurong Secondary School and Singapore Polytechnic consecutively.

He first started out as a singer in a local group playing a mixture called Bonafide of hip-hop and R&B with fellow rapper Mark Subra.

His first album, Blessings, was released on 14 January 2005 and went platinum in less than 10 days, selling more than 30,000 copies. He dedicated the song "Ibu" to his mother in his album.

His song 'I Dream' can be heard on 'Colour-Me Tones' which is available in Singapore.

He had a role in Shooting Stars as a pizza delivery boy, who is passionate about singing but is hindered by obstacles such as lack of money to pay for singing lessons, and also peer pressure. Shooting stars also stars other Singapore Idol contestants, namely Sylvester Sim, Olinda Cho, Daphne Khoo and Jeassea K. Thyidor. Shooting stars was released on 9 August 2005 in Singapore and ended on October 11th 2005.

On 28 August 2005 Taufik Batisah, who himself is an ex-smoker, was picked by Health Promotion Board as its first Smoke-Free Ambassador.

His sophomore album, All Because of You, was released by Hype Records on 23 November 2006.

Taufik's much anticipated Debut Malay Album, Teman Istimewa was released and distributed by Galaxy Music in Malaysia on 5 September 2007.

A special version of the Malay Album was later released on 15 October 2007 by Hype Records for fans in Singapore.

Taufik was conferred the highest youth accolade in Singapore at the Istana on 6 July 2008, the Singapore Youth Award 2008 for his achievements in the local and regional music scene, and for being an inspiring role model to youths from all walks of life.

After more than a year of preparation and anticipation, Taufik Batisah released a new Malay album in Singapore on 23 November 2008, SURIA HATIKU, which features 10 tracks. The album also sees the collaborations with top Malaysian music composer and producer in the Malay music industry, M. Nasir. The album also has Taufik’s first ever duet recording with Hady Mirza entitled “Kepadanya”. Suria Hatiku was later released in Malaysia on 4 May 2009 under Suria Records label.

First Local Artiste appointed for the first time as Language Ambasssador for this year's Malay Language Month, which starts on June 26.
